Nepal's music reflects the many communities of the Himalaya and the Kathmandu Valley, from Newar festival and devotional music to the folk songs of the hills, played on instruments such as the madal drum and the sarangi. Kathmandu is also home to a growing contemporary scene where jazz, rock, and Nepali traditions meet.
